David Mathenge, popularly known as Nameless, contemplated quitting singing after her daughter was badly hurt by comments from his fan.
The singer narrated how his daughter came home one day so hurt, that he thought of changing career.
“About five years ago when my oldest daughter was seven, she came home upset because someone had told her that I am boring. Seeing my daughter so upset is one of the instances that I seriously considered quitting. But instead of running away, I used that as an opportunity to educate her,” Nameless told SDE.
The young girl was so hurt that the said fan knew Nameless was her father but decided to tell such a bad comment.
The singer said it was difficult making the child understand that society is not fair and people might be ought to just make one feel awful.
“I wanted her to understand that sometimes people say things to purposefully hurt you because this person could have chosen to tell someone else or keep it to themselves but singled her out instead. I made her understand that most of the time the problem is the other person, not her,” he added.
Children whose parents are in the public limelight are constant targets of ‘bullying’ by people who are against their parents.
While speaking on Radio Maisha Monday morning, State House Spokesperson told Kenyans to stop insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta on social media as he is also ‘a father to children and husband to somebody’.
