Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama has won the hearts of Nyamira residents after he declared that he won't pay over 300 workers who have not been reporting to work.
The locals said Nyagarama's move not to pay the lazy workers will help the county save the money to be used to fund development projects.
"Nyagarama is now awake from his deep sleep. There is no way lazy staff members who don't report to work can get salaries without working. It is high time the governor should send home the over 300 workers," said Innocent Ariemo, a Nyamira township local.
Jacinta Mong'ina urged Nyagarama to use the money which he won't pay the workers to empower small scale traders.
"Salaries meant for the 300 workers should be given to small scale traders to purchase more stock. Lazy county workers must not be condoned," she noted.
Widen Mogeni reiterated that there is need for Governor Nyagarama who has been perceived to be 'lazy' to work around the clock to streamline operations at the county.
"It is a new dawn in Nyamira after the governor's latest move. People should not get salaries for no work done," said Mr Mogeni.
