Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has warned politicians in Nyamira and Kisii counties against dividing the Gusii community along political lines.
Dr Matiang'i argued that the community is peaceful, adding that those working with politicians to create rift should be slammed.
"Elected leaders must get back to work. Those spreading propaganda have no place in the society. Let us not dwell on non issues that are detrimental in peace processes," he said.
The former education Cabinet Secretary urged the public to ignore politicians engaging in retrogressive politics, arguing that politics based on political parties and propaganda will derail development.
"As leaders we should shun corruption since there will be no development if public resources are stolen. The opportunity leaders have should be used wisely for development to be realized across all corners of Gusii region," he stated.
Matiang'i is currently coordinating Government projects across the country after he was elevated by President Uhuru Kenyatta early this year.
He was speaking on Friday during the fund raising at Gesiaga Secondary school. Several Gusii leaders among them Governor John Nyagarama had accompanied him.
