Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has expressed hope that his presidential ambition for the 2022 general elections will be fruitful.
In an interview on Radio Maisha Monday morning, the leader said that he has since began laying foundation for his bid, his second shot after emerging a distant third in the 2013 polls.
He attributed the same to his many deliberations with national and regional leaders lately, the latest one being his meeting with former Central Kenya leaders on Monday.
The plan, he said, is to acquire as much support as possible early enough and approach the contest with the needed power and strength.
"Nimekuwa na ziara nyingi nchini na nimekutana na viongozi wengi. Haya ni matayarisho ili uchaguzi utakapofika tuwe na nguvu na uungaji mkono was kutosha.
(I have been meeting leaders from across the nation and making tours nationally in preparation for the race)," he said.
With regards to the Monday meeting that was held at his Riverside Estate residence in Nairobi, he expressed hope that his efforts will land him the Mt Kenya support in 2022.
He added that the same has been the reason behind his numerous visits to Central Kenya since the 2017 polls, urging Kenyans from the region to rally behind his candidature.
"Ningependa watu wa mkoa wa Kati waniunge mkono. Pia nitatembea sehemu zingine maana unapotaka kuwa kiongozi wa kitaifa lazima utafute uungaji mkono wa taifa zima
(I need the vote of the Central region and all the other regions in my pursuit for the top seat)," he added.
Mudavadi is likely to face off with Deputy President William Ruto among others, in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
