Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Kabando Wa Kabando has been the latest notable political figure to weigh in on the heating debate about a possible referendum.
In a tweet Monday, Kabando wiped out doubts about the said constitutional changes, insisting that the referendum is already cast on stone, only awaiting being carried out.
He said that Kenyans should stop discussing whether it will come and instead begin concentrating on its content, how it will be done and when it shall be presented to them.
"We’ll have a referendum my friend. Questions are what how when before next pill," he said, in response to a number of concerned twitter users.
Kabando has been among Mt Kenya leaders opposed to Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, with the referendum being seen as an anti-Ruto technique.
He was earlier in the year part of the team led former Jubilee Party Vice Chair David Murathe that warned the DP against expecting the Mt Kenya vote come 2022.
The constitutional amendment debate is being pushed by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) boss Raila Odinga and enjoy the backing of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The changes which seek to among others, expand the executive arm of the government also enjoy the backing of other senior political figures, excluding the DP's allies.
