While determining bail application by Irungu and his fiance TV journalist Jacque Maribe, Wakiaga described Irungu as a 'woman eater' due to fact he had no physical residence and was living in his girlfriend's house.

"The first accused is a male version of a slay queen. I would describe him as a woman eater," he said.

The judge said Irungu, popularly known as Jowie, was a flight risk, had access to and was a known lover of guns and, therefore, he could not be granted bail since he was a potential threat to witnesses.

Maribe, however, was released on Sh2 million bond with one surety of the same or Sh1million cash bail.

But it was not the ruling but Wakiaga's description of Jowie that got the attention of Kenyans as they took to Twitter to express their feelings.

Some accused the judge of prejudice while others lauded him for his sense of 'humour'.
