Institutions of higher learning have been urged to embrace research as a way of life in their daily operations as they form an integral part of the student’s growth and their contribution to the society.
Speaking during an interview with this writer on Monday, Prof Henry Bwisa from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) said innovation forms the modern-day trend as the world is moving towards the digital era.
He opined that the world should, therefore, be determined to embrace new blood in the business and into the job market
"In an institution of higher learning, research is a significant contributor to the educational journey. It helps to explore innovative research findings in business, entrepreneurship and IT. It also promotes academic discourse and exchange of innovative ideas and approaches in these areas as well as provide a forum for scholars and researchers to interact," said Bwisa.
He noted that the institutions of higher learning should strive to produce employers and break the trend of producing graduates for the limited job market.
He further challenged the students to strive and get new research ideas instead of waiting to be spoon-fed by their lecturers.
