Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has advised President Uhuru Kenyatta to resign at the age of 60.
Speaking at Kasarani Stadium during the 2019 Akorino Annual conference, Sonko said that Uhuru can resign to pave way for a referendum to extend his term limit in power.
He said that the President, who is completing his second and final term in State House, is still young and can rule for another term. He also said that he is not part of Kieleweke or TangaTanga.
(This politics of hatred you are the one who will finish. So, if the handshake is real, TangaTanga is real and Kieleweka is real. I am not anywhere there, I want to say that if we will have a referendum, I want the president and that is my opinion. The President is still a young man at the age of 56 he should resign at 60)
On his part, President Uhuru Kenyatta appealed to leaders to stop politicking to back his development projects. He said that leaders who have been campaigning in the name of TangaTanga Movement are in for a rude shock if they do not desist from the same.
“These thugs that we elected are busy politicking. They should not think I am their boy, they will not stop me from constructing roads. They didn’t look for votes on my behalf. I went looking for my votes. These rubbish should stop bothering me,” said Kenyatta.
