One non-local teacher has been killed following an attack in a school by suspected Al Shabaab militants on Wednesday.
According to a social media update by ex-BBC and currently KTN news editor Odeo sirari, the suspected gunmen stormed Nunow Primary School and killed one non-local teacher.
"Reports of an attack by suspected alshabaab militapnts at a local primary school in Garissa county, northeastern Kenya at 2030 hrs, Wednesday. At least one non-local teacher has been killed in the attack at Nunow Primary school, about 6 kilometers from the Modikar barrier," Journalist Sirari posted .
Cases of non-local teachers posted to serve in the North Eastern region losing their lives at the hands of Al-Shabaab gunmen are on the rise.
The tragic events have compelled the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and KUPPET to issue idvisory correspondences on mass exit of non-local tutors from the volatile region.
However, the teachers' employer, Teachers' Service Commission (TSC) is yet to issue a statement over the latest attack in the learning institution.
