Echesa has been replaced with outgoing Education CS Amina Mohammed.  The former CS is to blame for his woes.

Here are some of the blunders Echesa committed before he lost his job.

1. Human trafficking claims

Echesa was put on the spot following the arrest of 8 Pakistani nationals at a Nairobi club.

It alleged that the CS was fully aware of the presence of the women in the country.

Reports indicated that each of the girls paid the Immigration Department Sh45,000 to be issued with the special passes before entry into the country. The CS however, denied the claims before the women were deported.

2. Premature 2022 campaigns

Uhuru warned his team against conducting early campaigns before 2022.

Echesa, who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, ignored Uhuru’s directive as he continued to engage in the campaigns. He remained vocal on President Uhuru’s succession before the axe fell on him.

3. The poor performance of the sports sector

The sports docket has not been performing well since Echesa took over the office.

National teams have been struggling amid promises of brighter days. The dismissal performance of these teams could have catalyzed Uhuru to crack whip on him.

4. Endless attacks against Raila

Achesa dared Raila to fire him on several occasions. He has been on the forefront in attacking the former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga. He once said that he cannot call Raila Baba, adding that he has no power to fire him for any reason.

5. Echesa could be a victim of circumstances

Uhuru had said that he will fire any CS who doesn’t show his commitment as far as service delivery is concerned.

Uhuru is likely to have fired the CS as a way to demonstrate that he means well for the people of Kenya.

He may have searched through his entire team and landed on Echesa to carry the burden of others as a way of winning the confidence of Kenyans as he seeks to leave behind a legacy.

Uhuru has been urging his team to prioritize development over anything else and it seems the CS had not taken him seriously before he decided to crack the whip that saw him leave office in an unceremonious manner.
