Speaking on Radio Maisha Monday morning, Gicheru who vied on the Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) ticket noted that his main concern now is to serve the people of Migori, even after his loss.

He added that his defeat to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Ochillo Ayacko has not killed his ambition to better the lives of Migori people and will continue doing it from the outside.

‘’Am not in national politics as of now. I am not interested in the presidential race for 2022, all I want to do now is to serve Migori people,’’ he said.

When asked whether he would throw his weight behind Deputy President William Ruto, Oketch noted that the same is better left to time.

He instead stressed on the need for Kenyans to shelve the 2022 debate and concentrate on more important issues affecting the nation currently.

‘’Kwa wakati huu swali hilo ni gumu kwa sababu hata sijui kama Ruto atawania urais 2022 (it will depend on whether he will vie in the first place),’’ he said.

Oketch was repeatedly accused of enjoying Ruto’s support in the concluded race by members of the rival Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Ruto is expected to vie on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket.
