An orphan who risked differing his studies at Kisii University has all reasons to smile after the last minute rush by well-wishers who managed to raise Sh23,000 for his fee.
Master Arasa Makori had given a passionate appeal in a Kitutu Masaba WhatsApp group where he requested for urgent assistance from members of the public.
And group members immediately started an online fundraiser which managed to have Sh23,000 collected towards completion of his academic year.
"We may have not given that much but at least he will seat for exams. It's painful for an orphan to miss out exams. As a community, we have a role to play in such situations," said Nyandieka Ayiecha, the coordinator of the exercise.
By the time contributions were being made, Kitutu Masaba Constituency NG-CDF bursaries had not been released. Verification of the applicants names is however ongoing.
Speaking after the incredible help from Members of the public, Mr Arasa thanked them for the favour but added that he still needs finances to complete his education.
"It was just miracles. I thought that I'd differ my studies again. Our people have helped me to raise the requisite fee for exams. I still need a lot of support to complete studies," he said.
He is hopeful that well-wishers will continue helping his course so that he manages to help his younger siblings in future. He lost both his parents at a tender age.
