A few days after allegations of his death went viral on Facebook, the Moi University student who was beaten by a mob early last week has finally come out to confirm that he is indeed alive.
Speaking exclusively to Hivisasa, the second year student who wanted to be identified only as Wallace, said he was alive and recovering.
"I have also heard of the rumor going around that I am dead. Who even begun that malicious rumour? I am alive," Wallace said on phone.
The student had allegedly been caught with a stolen phone at the Soweto residence in Moi University. He was roughed up and beaten by the mob while being escorted to the administration block.
A close source who wanted to remain anonymous also revealed that Wallace was receiving treatment at an Embu hospital and would soon be discharged.
A post by Moscent Namussasi on Facebook suggested that Wallace had passed away.
"A suspected phone thief (a fellow student) was frog matched by irate students, beaten and later his life brought to an unprecedented halt," part of the post reads.
This was followed by a series of condolence messages from other students.
