Speaking on Tuesday, the lawmaker who has repeatedly declared his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta noted that he will stick to his declaration and ultimately vie for the seat.

He termed participating in the much anticipated race a constitutional right which no one can take from him, though he remains silent on his party of choice for the contest.

"Running for president is my constitutional right. I will continue that course. Take that to the bank," he said on Citizen TV's News Night on Tuesday night.

However, he distanced his bid from President Uhuru Kenyatta's Sunday's attacks on a section of Mt Kenya politicians whom he said are engaging in premature politics.

Kuria said that he was not one of those being attacked, as he has not been engaging in early politics and has as well not been quoted anywhere imposing himself on the voters.

Thw second term MP added that his plans for the 2022 elections remain useless for now, as there are a lot of other more important issues that need to be addressed at the time.

"My wanting to be president is inconsequential and immaterial here. First of all, its a constitutional right, but as the (sic) you know I don't go throwing it into people faces as if its the most important thing in this world," he added.

Kuria will have to go through Deputy President William Ruto and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who have also declared their bids if he is to realize his dream.
