President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again urged political leaders to drop the 2022 election debate and concentrate on service delivery.
Addressing a rally in Nyeri Town on Thursday, Uhuru vowed to punish his Mt Kenya backyard leaders dwelling in the 2022 debate at the expense of service to Kenyans.
Terming them unsuitable for their leadership slots, Uhuru threatened to push for their ouster should they not make a U-turn and concentrate on fulfilling their election pledges.
“When the right time comes, I will tell people that leaders who spent most of their time dwelling on baseless talk should go home. They don’t deserve any leadership position," he was quoted by the Standard.
Speaking after a meeting with some Central Kenya leaders, Uhuru detected selfishness, bashing the group for investing most of their time in anticipating his declaration on who will inherit him as the Mt Kenya kingpin.
He advised them to instead unite and forge the way forward in solving the many shortcomings facing the voter.
“We need to put the needs of Kenyans first and know how we can improve their lives. We will know about tomorrow when we get there,” Uhuru is further quoted.
The President went ahead to open a rebuilt market in Karatina Town.
