Garissa Township MP Aden Duale had dismissed claims that he is eyeing to contest for the Garissa governor seat in the forthcoming 2022 general election.
Duale says that he has no intention of vying for the seat as being speculated in some sections of the media.
In an interview with a local daily on Saturday, the Leader of Majority in the National Assembly said that he is satisfied serving as MP.
"I am happy serving Garissa people in the national government and I don't have any intention or plan of contesting for any seat at the county government level," he said.
Duale stated that he is focused on serving Garissa people, noting that under his leadership much development has been realized.
"I am grateful that Garissa people gave me the opportunity to serve them and will continue to do so wholeheartedly," he said.
Duale asked politicians to focus on service delivery instead of speculating on the 2022 succession politics.
There have been claims that Duale could contest for a bigger seat in 2022.
Last month, the MP claimed that some locals are piling pressure on him to vie for a top seat in 2022.
Duale is among North Eastern leaders supporting Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid in 2022.
