Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has left residents guessing on his stand in regard the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
The second-time governor is yet to release a concrete statement on the matter as investigations gain momentum.
Migori Governor Okoth Obado, who has been linked to the brutal murder of the second year student, could be in more trouble after the Director of Public Prosecutions revealed his plan of charging him with the second murder.
Okoth, who is still behind bars, appeared before Justice Jessie Lesiit on Tuesday before he was sent back to Industrial Area Remand Prison for another two nights as the probing team combs through the evidence.
The DPP has since been opposed to the release of the county boss on the ground that he might interfere with the ongoing investigations into the mysterious death of the medical student.
State Prosecutor Alexander Muteti revealed that the DPP is likely to amend the charge sheet of the case in order to serve the family of the deceased with justice.
Emotions continued to run high in court as the case proceeds.
The mother of the deceased shed tears as the county boss pleaded not guilty to the offence. Several arrests including Obado’s PA Michael Oyamo have been made in relations to the brutal murder.
