Deputy President William Ruto on Monday made a surprise visit to Kiambaa, an area that was seriously hit by the 2007/2008 Post-Election Violence which claimed over 1,300 lives.
Ruto who attended prayers at the Kiambaa Church where 35 people were burnt to death promised Kenyans that such an incident will never occur again in Kenya.
He said the Jubilee administration will always work in ensuring Kenyans live in peace and that acts of violence will be contained before they spiral out.
"It is my promise that this will never happen again in our country," the former Eldoret North MP said as he spoke during the prayer session.
"I am happy that the church is playing an important role in ensuring Kenyans don't fight. We need the help of one another to move forward as a country."
The Kiambaa Church in Eldoret was an ugly spot during the 2007/2008 PEV where Internally Displaced People were attacked and killed when the Kenya Assemblies of God Church was torched.
The attack caught international attention and was among incidents that necessitated the international community to intervene to end the violence that also led to the displacement of over 650,000.
