Nairobi county is set for a partnership NHIF to cover poor households in the city.
This was announced by Governor Mike Sonko who said that they were doing this to cushion vulnerable persons in Nairobi to give them access to free medical services in county hospitals.
While speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Kihumbuini Stadium in Kangemi on Friday, Sonko said his administration was determined to ensuring residents get health services at their county hospitals.
“My administration will partner with NHIF to ensure quality and affordable healthcare services are offered in our county hospitals. I want us to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big Four agenda by offering accessible healthcare to the public,” he said.
This will be a big achievement by the Sonko government following his campaigns that targetted the poor.
Providing free health services to areas like Kibera will see thousands of unemployed locals get free treatment and maternity services from their locations.
