Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has told Deputy President William Ruto to stop panicking over 2022 presidential election.
Muthama claims that DP Ruto is afraid of the 2022 polls, hence the reason why his allies are going around the country seeking support.
The former Machakos senator told Ruto to calm down and wait to battle it out with other candidates in the 2022 race.
“I think the deputy president has panicked-out after realizing that the people he thought will back him in 2022 may not,” Muthama said.
He made the sentiments during an interview in a local TV station on Monday.
Muthama said 2022 politics will play it out at its appropriate time hence Ruto should focus on service delivery.
“Ruto should join the president in actualizing the 'Big four' agenda and leave politics for people who are not in government,” he added.
He said elected leaders must settle down and deliver services to Kenyans instead of engaging in premature political campaigns.
There has been a debate on whether or not Mt. Kenya region will support DP Ruto’s 2022 bid as earlier agreed.
Two weeks ago, the DP Ruto said no one owes him a political debt.
He made the remakes after a vernacular song ‘Hatuna Deni, Kitaeleweka’ that insinuates that Mt Kenya may not support him in 2022 went viral.
