Amani National Congress party has formally kicked out nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi following a court process that ruled against his bid to retain Secretary General position.
Mr Osotsi could now be kicked out of parliament, after the party's decision to expunge him from register as party member was approved by Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu.
In a press release, ANC Secretary General Barack Muluka confirmed Osotsi's removal, adding that he had been consequently barred from transacting any business on behalf of the party.
"Please take note of the letter by Registrar of Political Parties dated on 13th May. The above mentioned person has been from the party's register as a member and cannot transact any business of it's behalf," Muluka said.
In her response, Ms Nderitu acknowledged receiving the letter from ANC and a court order, adding that her office has since informed the MP formally.
"In reference to your letter, I acknowledge receipt. I have informed the affected person of the decision to remove him from the party register."
The latest development gives ANC room to kick out Mr Osotsi from parliament and replace him with another person. The party may decide to write to Speaker Justin Muturi, informing him of the decision.
Last month, ODM party kicked out Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa but it's yet to write to the speaker for her removal. Unlike Jumwa, Osotsi's removal can only end in court.
