Former Finance Minister Jackline Momanyi has dismissed claims that she was unceremoniously sacked by Governor John Nyagarama.
Instead, Ms Momanyi, a stalwart in the finance department, says she voluntarily quit due to hard working environment in Nyamira.
"I am seeing some of my former workmates claiming I was sacked. They should go to the governor and ask for my resignation letter," she said, hours after news about resignation emerged on Friday.
She added: "I told you that if I resign, then I am going for greener pastures. In fact, working environment in Nyamira was very difficult. I had to move out for my career growth."
Governor Nyagarama appointed Peter Muga, who is also incharge of Tourism and Trade as her substantive replacement, causing jitters among members of the public.
Ms Momanyi's exit comes two months after her first attempt to quit was reportedly thwarted by Nyagarama, who asked her to reconsider her decision.
In her text message to former colleagues at the department, she wished them all the best, further indicating that her resignation was approved on October 30th.
"I wish to inform you that I resigned on 30/10/18. I wish you all the best as you work for the people of Nyamira."
