Police on Thursday reported that David Mwai who had been arrested in the case where Governor Ali Korane is a prime suspect committed suicide using his clothes at Parklands police station where he had been in custody since his arrest.

But according to Boniface Mwangi, who claimed he had on various occasions slept in the same cells, it is practically impossible for one to hang self due to nature of the structures where suspects are detained.

In a series of tweets https://mobile.twitter.com/bonifacemwangi?p=s, the activist alleged he had spoken to a police officer who confided in him that Mwai was murdered.

He urged government investigative agencies to move fast and probe the matter.

"The windows (at the station) are so high, there is no way anybody can hang themselves, you can’t even tie a noose. @DCI_Kenya @ODPP_KE @IPOA_KE this must be investigated. Spoken to a cop and he says David Mwai was murdered," he posted.

In another tweet https://mobile.twitter.com/bonifacemwangi/status/1035225592185200641?p=v he added: "I have slept in almost every police station in Nairobi. Most police stations were built in the colonial days and the cells are horrible, the “windows” are just a stretch of an opening near the roof with iron bars. “Cold blood murder” has happened at Parklands Police Station."

Mukhtar was shot in the head on August 19 incident and is in hospital in critical condition.
