Crime busters in Nairobi have launched a manhunt for a gang of hackers who have reportedly milked several Barclays bank ATMs dry.

According to Sunday Nation, the hackers have stolen up to Sh10 million.

The robbers applied guerilla-like tactics such as smearing CCTV cameras with dirty before withdrawing millions from the cash dispensers.

Affected ATMs are at Mutindwa, Buruburu, Kenyatta National Hospital and at The Mater Hospital in South B.

It is not clear where security guarding the premises were during the incident which was reported on Sunday morning.

According to police, about six million were stolen at Mutindwa, another Sh4 million and one million at KNH and South B machines.

Banks closed business on Thursday evening as staff proceeded for the Easter holidays.

Only customers with ATM cards accessed cash withdrawal services.

In the theft incident, it is not clear if police have any leads to those who were involved.
