President Uhuru Kenyatta has been touring Coast region for the last one week and many are still guessing the purpose of the long visit.
Although State House says the tour is purely developmental, some political analysts claim there could be some politicking at the background playing quietly.
Unlike Ruto whose Coast visits involve local politicians, Uhuru's tour has been unique. The commander-in-chief has not been engaging the local leadership as he continues to inspect development projects.
So how has Uhuru's visit managed to cool down Ruto's growing influence in the region?
The decision to exclude the local elected leaders is a clear indicator that Uhuru is not interested in playing the 2022 politics which the DP has immense interest in.
Conventionally, the DP would expect the president to utter at least a word in his name since, in their agreement in 2013, Uhuru was expected to support Ruto's presidential candidature in 2022.
Uhuru's continued silence on this, therefore, is a big minus on Ruto's part and is slowly sending shivers along the spines of some opposition allied MPs who support his quest for the presidency in 2022.
Uhuru's non-politicking style in his tour has, generally, thrown off-balance all leaders who are in support of Ruto's quest to ascend to State House.
Ruto's allies can only spectate from a distance as Kenya's fifth president traverses the region.
