Throughout 2017 polls, Joho, a confidant of ODM leader Raila Odinga, clashed with the president often over policy issues.

In fact, he had his bodyguards withdrawn in two occasions besides being barred from attending a state function at his backyard.

But on Thursday, Joho accompanied Raila for a secret meeting with Uhuru at Vipingo Lodge in a meeting that lasted for four hours.

Although details of the secret meeting remain scanty, sources say that war against corruption, tribalism in public service and Mau evictions dominated.

So important was that meeting between the trio that the Mombasa governor may have had a chance to open up about the sea port which has seen his government take on Uhuru's regime head-on.

After the meeting, Raila and Joho proceeded to his new house at Nyali where they held another meeting which revolved around DP William Ruto's intensified activities at the Coast.
