A Jubilee MP from Nyamira County has expressed happiness after Deputy President William Ruto accepted to back the referendum which is being pushed by NASA leader Raila Odinga.
Nyamira County MP Jerusha Momanyi said DP Ruto made a bold decision by backing the referendum.
"Ruto will not have enemies because he accepted to back the referendum. Constitutional amendments should now be done without delay to reduce the burden poor Kenyans are being subjected into," she said.
She warned that any leader whether in Jubilee party or opposition coalition who will oppose the referendum will be humiliated.
"Kenyans are very ready to participate in the referendum. Any politician who will be out to oppose the referendum will face a humiliating defeat since Kenyans won't side to the opposition side," she added.
The lawmaker insisted that the building bridges initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga is benefiting Kenyans and urged leaders to be at the forefront pushing for the initiate.
"The handshake has really helped the country to move after the last year's polls. As leaders we must put aside party politics and focus on preaching peace in the country," she stated.
