Mr Hassan appealed to boda boda riders who are yet to acquire the necessary requirements to do so.

"Interior CS Fred Matiang'i pushed the introduction of new road rules. Bodaboda riders who are yet to adhere to the set rules should consider doing so before the law catches up with them," he said.

He insisted that bodaboda riders who will be nabbed operating without valid driving licences and protective gears will be sent to jail.

"A crackdown will be done very soon to ensure riders who have not adhered to the set road rules are kept off from the roads. Those who will be caught operating illegally will be arrested and be sent to jail," he added.

Hassan argued that if boda boda riders will follow the traffic rules, cases of unnecessary accidents will be minimal.

"We don't want to continue witnessing unnecessary deaths caused as a result of careless riding. Accidents which have been reported along Kisii-Nyamira road will come to an end once riders meets the road rules," he stated.
