Migori Governor Okoth Obado said Nyatike residents are suffering of hunger and the national government has no plans to help the poor residents.

"It should be known that Nyatike residents are experiencing hunger. I am pleading with the national government to consider supplying food to the starving residents," said the county boss.

He argued that should the national government ignore the residents deaths may be reported.

The county chief said counties from the Southern Nyanza region such as Kisii, Nyamira and Migori should not be ignored in the supply of relieve food.

"Our people should not be left to suffer. As leaders we need to ensure that the electorates have enough food to eat. No one is willing to witness deaths resulting from hunger," he added.

Obado insisted that starving Nyatike residents have a right to also benefit from the funds the government has allocated to help buy food for drought victims.

"Funds set aside to address drought should also be spread to Nyatike so that residents can get food," he added.
