Health CS Sicily Kariuki has revealed that Cuban doctors deployed in the counties have already treated about 12, 000 Kenyans within one month.
The Cuban doctors were deployed in the counties as a way of improving health services across the country. Each county received two doctors.
“We are happy that a record 12,000 plus patients have been treated by the Cubans in a record one month. The specialists will be in the country for two years and we expect more patients to be treated during the period,” the CS said.
Kariuki noted that the doctors have since settled in the workplaces without any notable challenges.
She made the remarks on Sunday during a visit to the Iten County Referral Hospital. The impromptu visit was meant to check the utilization of different equipment donated to the facility.
The CS said the equipment supplied to county hospitals will help decongest referral hospitals.
