A team of MPs associated with Deputy President William Ruto may have resurfaced again despite resistance from a section of politicians allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta who accuse them of early campaigns.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed his discomfort over the early campaigns and has repeatedly warned politicians against engaging in early campaigns, instead of asking them to focus on Big Four agenda.
But over the weekend legislators allied to Ruto pitched tent at Bureti in Kericho where they accused the President's team of doublespeak, insisting that they will not tire in pushing for Ruto's presidency.
"They are telling us to stop early campaigns yet they are the same campaigning for the referendum. We are not going to stop. Don't take DP Ruto's silence as a form of weakness," Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah said.
Others who graced the occasion were Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Nelson Koech (Belgut), Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia), Didmas Barasa (Kimilili) and Caleb Kositany (Soy). At the Sunday's event, DP Ruto stayed clear off politics and instead campaigned for peace and unity, adding that he's concerned about the Big Four agenda.
"Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass. At an interdenominational church service and thanksgiving ceremony of Florence Bore, Kericho County Women Representative, Bureti, Kericho County," he wrote on Facebook.
And as this was taking place, a section of Mt Kenya legislators led by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu vowed to oppose the Tanga Tanga team, insisting that it had sabotaged the President's agenda.
The team believed to be supporting the president is keen to have a referendum which will bring about changes in the governance structure.
