Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga was on Sunday captured on camera being rescued by his bodyguards from falling on the podium in Tanzania.
The former Prime Minister was in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where he had gone to watch the Sportpesa SuperCup final between Kariobangi Sharks FC and Bandari FC.
Just moments after handing over the trophy to the cup winners Kariobangi Sharks FC, a visibly fatigued Raila was seen being held by his bodyguards. They then led him off the podium at the National Stadium.
The viral video attracted a series of reactions from concerned Kenyans and people around the world being concerned about Raila’s health.
However, Raila came out to set the record straight concerning his health. He thanked those who were concerned about him and told them that he was fine.
“Dear Kenyans and friends from around the globe, I am well and in Good health. Thank you for your concern,” he said through his twitter handle.
His Personal Assistant (PA) Dennis Onyango came out to reveal the reason why Raila was held by his bodyguards. Through a press statement on the ODM party twitter account, Onyango said:
“H.E Raila Odinga is fine in Dar. Images of security people holding him emerged from a step on the podium that was falling off and not anything to do with health. Thanks to everyone who has expressed concern,” wrote Dennis Onyango.
