The planned meeting between Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua will revive Ukambani hopes of clinching presidency in the 2022 general election, political analyst Peter Ngure has said.
Ngure says Ukambani will be a force to reckon with if Kalonzo and Mutua agree to work together.
In an interview on Saturday, Ngure said Kalonzo and Mutua who have not been seeing eye to eye since 2013 holds the key to Ukambani's political success.
He said Ukambani will increase its political bargaining power if indeed Kalonzo and Mutua shelve their political differences.
"It will be a boost for Ukambani in regards to the 2022 presidential election should Kalonzo and Mutua agree to shelve differences and work together," Ngure said.
On Saturday, Kalonzo and Mutua met during Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana's son wedding at the Karen Community Church in Nairobi where they agreed to have a meeting next week.
The two leaders have not been seeing eye to eye since the 2013 general election after Mutua was elected Governor on Wiper Party ticket before ditching the party to form his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.
A section of Ukambani politicians have been piling pressure on Kalonzo and Mutua to unite for the sake of the community's development.
Kalonzo and Governor Mutua have declared interest in the 2022 presidential election.
