She's among the wealthiest female musicians in the country.

Despite the popularity, Akothee during an interview at a local TV last week disclosed some facts about her life that a lot of people do not know.

1. She had three kids at the age of 16.

Akothee said that she fell in love while in form two at 14-years and eloped with her lover who married her.

She stayed with her husband's family as he continued with his studies.

By the time she was 16-years, unlike her agemates who were nursing heartbreaks she was taking care of three kids.

2. Her husband cheated so she divorced him.

Akothee went back to school to complete her secondary education and came back to her husband.

Her husband cheated on her with another woman when cash started flowing in and she had no other option other than to walk out.

She said that her husband even sent the kids to his mother's house to enable him have a good time with his 'lover'.

3. She sold 'Omena' to make a living

Akothee disclosed that she left her mothers in-law's house after being sent packing she sold 'Omena' at Kanga market to make a living.

4. She was a taxi driver

Akothee explained that her journey to fame and wealth wasn't an easy one.

She worked as a taxi driver in Mombasa in an attempt to fend for her family.

After her business picked she was able to buy more taxis and employ workers.
