Did you know that the deadline for filling your KRA returns is tomorrow, 30th June, 2018? Well, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has given a crucial update to all Kenyans with a KRA pin.
After several complaints from a section of Kenyans on difficulties to accessing the various KRA features, the board responded admitting that there were some system failures.
However, they affirm that the issue lasted for only a few hours before being corrected.
“We hereby apologize for the iTax system downtime experienced from late yesterday (Wednesday) to this morning (Thursday).
“We assure all taxpayers that the system is now up and running smoothly. Our service centres and offices are open to assist you.
“Check your name in the compliant list today,” read a message posted on their social media accounts.
The board cautioned all those who will fail to file for their returns, as they will attract a penalty of Ksh. 20, 000.
Its only from next year that taxpayers will be allowed to file their returns even after the June 30 deadline, changes in the Tax Procedures Act. However, this will only be possible if one applies for an extension 30 days before the deadline day.
The act also notes that business entities that file monthly returns will also be allowed an extension if they seek permission 15 days before their deadline day.
