Makadara MP George Aladwa has revealed that National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale is the one who recently led Jubilee Party MPs in breaking the order by clapping in parliament.

The incident happened during President Uhuru Kenyatta's joint parliamentary address on Thursday after Uhuru said that he will not bend to pressure and sack state officials implicated in graft as some Kenyans are demanding.

Consequently, a number of MPs clapped in agreement, which is against the rules of the House, where lawmakers are instead required to stamp their feet on the ground in agreement.

Speaking on Saturday, Aladwa said that Duale is the one who began the same, before fellow Jubilee MPs joined him, only to realise that they were doing the wrong thing seconds later.

"Duale kwa kuchanganyikiwa kwake alisahau hakuna kupiga makofi bungeni, baadaye wenzake wa Jubilee wakaingilia. Alisahau bungeni watu hupiga miguu sio makofi," revealed Aladwa.

In English, it loosely translates to: "Duale in his confusion forgot that there's no clapping in parliament, later, his colleagues in Jubilee joined. He forgot that in parliament people stamp their feet not clapping."

Aladwa was speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show, Saturday morning.

The opposition lawmaker noted that it took the intervention of the opposite wing to remind the vocal Garissa Township legislator that he was out of order.

"Tulimwona sana kwa sababu ya ile kofia yake ya uislamu na tukamkumbusha pale ni bungeni na sio katika ile mikutano yao ya kisiasa.

(His Islamic cap gave him away, we had to remind him that we are in parliament not a campaign rally)," he added.
