Kamande had been accused of stabbing her boyfriend, Farid Muhammed to death 22 times.

A Facebook user, Mwangi Munga ignited heated debate over the court sentence when he posted this on a popular group Uasin Gishu County Forum;

"Unlike in the US, Kenya doesn't hang murder convicts. The US can't abolish the law because of many guns in the hands of its citizens. What is your verdict here? Does Kamande deserve to die or not?"

Here are some of the reactions to the post;

"Get your fact correct. The constitution did not abolish the death penalty. The supreme court said 'the mandatory nature of death sentence for murder under Penal Code section 204 to be unconstitutional..meaning the accused can mitigate for a lesser punishment and the judicial officer will determine...So if the president signs the warrant she will face hanging man...Kenya has embraced unofficial moratorium since 1987 though not by law," Dickson G Njiru said.

"Death sentence is good for her, Bible says we should not kill," said Samson Muthui.

"Ghai hiyo urembo yote itaqipotelee kwa prison maze c fair angewachwa tu c husband wake alikufa na labda ni ukweli venye alisema hakuwa na intension ya kumuua," oted Ken Koros.

"Shouldn't she have been hanged because she is beautiful? Come in, give us a break. When she was stabbing that man 22 times, didn't she have humanity in her? I find the sentence okay because it has balanced justice for the deceased," said Ngeny Solo.

"Some men are still single and this angle is getting hanged, the law is not fair," noted Kevin Munangwe.

"Let her serve as an example to those who might be planning such stupid thoughts that no one is above the law," said Brian Kemei.
