The Head of State on Tuesday announced the formation of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee which is mandated to supervise the execution of government programmes and projects.

To head this powerful committee will be Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i who will be deputised by his Treasury colleague Henry Rotich.

According to Executive Order Number 1 of 2019, the President also established the National Development Implementation Technical Committee which will be headed by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

After receiving and deliberating on reports on challenges affecting implementation of the national government programmes, projects and the Big Four from Kibicho, Matiang'i will report directly to the office of the President.

Shortly after the announcement, Kuria took to social media to congratulate the appointees and expressed his contentment with the decision.

However, the vocal Gatundu South legislator could not do that without a sense of humour.

Likening the trio to caretakers of a typical village homestead, Kuria said he was convinced they were equal to the task of taking care of government's 'cows, chicken and clothes'.

"I congratulate CS Fred Matiang’i, CS Henry Rotich and PS Karanja Kibicho for their big appointments by H.E the President. Now I can sleep well and sound, comfortable that there is a team of 3 who will switch on and off the lights of government every morning and evening, ensure the government cows have been milked and milk delivered to the collection Centre and nobody forgot to lock in Government chickens or remove government clothes from the line," he posted on his official Facebook page.

The second-time MP further said that the appointments were in line with his radical proposal of expanding the executive.

"Exactly what I had in mind when I proposed a Prime Minister and 2 Deputy Prime Ministers appointed by the President to assist the President and the Deputy President in these important roles. The first constitutional change has taken place without a referendum," Kuria added.
