This was after the senator posed questions regarding the utilisation of county funds, a move the governor termed malicious, accusing Linturi of politicising the session.

Appearing before the County Public Accounts and Investment Committee, Murungi read mischief in Linturi's queries, terming them politically motivated, ahead of the 2022 polls.

In a protest to Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang who chairs the committee, the county boss wondered why the senator was being allowed to politicise the session for personal reasons.

He argued that the senator has been politicking in each and every opportunity he gets.

“Mr chairman, your vice chair has to discuss the Meru County Executive audit report in various avenues and stations including but not limited to rallies, churches and bars. He is using this audit report as a campaign tool to incite residents against my administration,” said Murungi as quoted by People Daily.

However, he stressed on the need for Linturi to quit taking Meru politics to Nairobi and instead concentrate on things that are beneficial to the county by effectively carrying out his oversight role.

“He must stop using the audit report to settle political scores and “play to the public gallery,” added the county boss.

This comes only days after Linturi joined hands with former Governor Peter Munya and East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Mpuru Aburi, in a bid to unseat Murungi in 2022.

Linturi and Kiraitu were initially allies and were part of the KiKaLi (Kiraitu, Kajuju, Linturi) group that elevated the governor to the position in the 2017 polls.
