Opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has revealed that the party leader Raila Odinga remains the most likely to fly the party’s presidential flag in 2022.

This, however, comes at a time when both Odinga’s deputies Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho have declared their interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, speaking on Milele FM on Thursday morning, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said that the former Premier is most likely to again beat the two should they go for vetting.

He termed Raila as a world known freedom fighter, saying that the remaining leaders must prove their ability to do better than him to earn the opportunity.

‘’Rekodi ya Raila ni wazi na inajulikana na viongozi wengine wanaotaka kiti lazima waonyeshe ujuzi kama wake (his record is known and the ones seeking to take over must prove to be better than him),’’ he said.

He, however, noted that the party is not only depending on Raila for survival, saying that there are very many other leaders who are energetic enough to take over and steer it to prosperity.

‘’Sio eti hatuna viongozi wengine wenye ari ya kuongoza chama. Wapo wengine wengi (there are many more other leaders with the needed vigour to take over the party),’’ added the former Nairobi senatorial candidate.

Odinga has, however, been unlucky in his 4 previous bids, the latest one being in 2017.
