This comes only days after he declared support for ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi's 2022 presidential bid, during a funeral service in Kakamega over the weekend.

However, speaking on Milele FM's Kivumbi show on Thursday morning, he said that he has not joined the party and his support for Mudavadi should not be deemed so.

"I did not say anywhere that I will join ANC," said that vocal leader who as well rubbished claims that he is a member of the ruling Jubilee Party.

He made the remarks only a day after Kakamega Senator Cleopa Malala, with whom they recently reached a truce, linked him with the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led party.

Echesa noted that he resigned from the party as is required for people appointed to state positions, and us at the moment not allied to any party.

"I am not a member of Jubilee or ANC kwa sababu (because) for one to take over a position like in the cabinet you must not be a member if any party. I resigned from Jubilee," he added.

Malala made the remarks on the same platform on Wednesday morning.

Both leaders have since vowed to work together after years of enmity, and have both declared support for Mudavadi's 2022 plans.
