Over the past few months, the former National Assembly speaker and Garissa politician Farah Maalim has been maintaining a low profile in matters of national and local politics.

To compensate for this apparent absence, Maalim has shifted his focus to Ethiopian politics, championing more and more for inclusive leadership.

This issue has sparked speculations as to whether Maalim would soon be changing his citizenship to achieve this dream.

Going by a social media update posted by the ex-speaker on Friday, it is apparent that he would soon be applying for dual citizenship in Ethiopia to finalize the dream.

Maalim revealed that Addis needed to be fixed first, a dream that he had close to 15 years ago.

About 15 years ago I had a long teleconversation with an OLF luminary who was in US then. He told me "I see you are trying hard to reestablish a viable centre in Mogadishu, the problem is not in Mogadishu but Addis. Let's fix Addis first, then Mogadishu will be fine". God bless!!

If Maalim decides to change citizenship in favor of Ethiopia, then he will become the first Kenyan politician to venture into active political activism in a foreign nation.
