Kakamega ex-senator Boni Khalwale has asked ODM leader Raila Odinga to share a recorded conversation of him and the Arabian trader that would justify CS Fred Matiang'i's absolution from blame over gold fraud.
In a tweet, Khalwale expressed satisfaction over the former Premier's explanation of his role in the illegitimate deal that painted Kenya in a bad light on an international platform.
However, the former senator took issue with circumstances that led to the Interior Cabinet Secretary's vindication.
"So far so good. Could u also share the audio which u listened to and which helped u to positively exonerate Dr Matiangi? (sic)" Khalwale asked Raila in the tweet.
The former Prime Minister admitted to flying to Dubai where the deal was allegedly brokered. He narrated how he intercepted the fraudsters' plans, thwarting them in presence of Zaheer, the gold dealer.
Raila further revealed that the imposters called Zaheer in his presence and that he even took a photo of himself and the Arabian conversing.
“I am the one who exposed the callers as fraudsters. I was with the Arabs when they received the call from the fraudsters who told them that they had their gold consignment and even sent a photo,” he said and promised that the ongoing investigations would unearth the imposters and the whole country would know the truth.
