Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana says President Uhuru Kenyatta has proven beyond doubt that he is determined to end corruption.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Bomas of Kenya, the second term governor said there is, however, much to be done to end this vice.
Kibwana argued that Uhuru will only succeed if Kenyans back him wholeheartedly.
He noted that former President Mwai Kibaki did well in the fight against the draft since the entire nation accorded him much support which he required.
“The war against corruption will be won when Kenyans believe that the leadership is not standing in the way of what the president wants to achieve,” Kibwana said.
Kibwana said county governments have done their best to ensure that there is no corruption.
He outlined the adoption of automated systems when it comes to tax collection, which he said has immensely streamlined operations at the county level.
“The counties are doing quite well on this when it comes to projects and programs, we want to entrench it into policy and legislation. About 12 counties are doing automated revenue collection and many are going towards that direction,” he added.
