The Governor together with his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, were charged for the murder of Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby last month.

In an exclusive interview, a section of residents made the following remarks:

“Thank God he has been released on bail. The Governor was losing weight at an alarming rate,” said Musa Abdul.

“The law is very clear. The Governor has the right to be released on bail since he has not been found guilty,” said Faith Atieno.

“At last, Migori County residents will be able to see their Governor after over three weeks in custody,” Alex Otieno said.

But others disagreed with the ruling to grant him bail.

“This case may end up collapsing. His release may collapse the case,” argued Mercy Onyango Awino.

“The Governor can now have a sigh of relief, but I have a feeling his release may end up jeopardizing the case,” said Jacob Otiende.

"I hope he will not interfere with the witnesses, Okoth Simon opined.

Judge Lessit ordered Obado to be released on a Sh5 million cash bail and two sureties of Sh5 million each.

The case will be heard between May 06, 2019 and May 17, 2019, with the pre-trial conference set for February 13, 2019.
