A middle-aged man shocked villagers after he sold 3 goats and eloped with his ex-wife on Sunday at Itogotera village in Kisii County.
Residents claimed that the man, Walter Manwaye eloped with his ex-wife, Peris Kerubo after he sold the 3 goats.
"Manwaye convinced his wife Edina Marinda to sell the 3 goats to buy fertilizer and use the extra money to cultivate the land before planting. Edina accepted not knowing that her husband had plans to elope with Kerubo who he divorced 2 years ago," said Henry Nyagaka.
Mr Nyagaka said Manwaye took the 3 goats to Mogumo market and sold them for Sh10,000.
"Manwaye sold the goats and he has not returned home since then. He has been traced to Riana area where he has allegedly rented a house and now living with his ex-wife," said Nyagaka.
Area assistant chief, Augustine Ouru said Manwaye abandoned his wife, Marinda with an 8-months-old son.
"It is so shameful for Manwaye to run away from home abandoning his wife who is still breastfeeding. I am not going to allow him back in the village before he brings back the 3 goats he sold," said the chief.
