Police officers in Kisii County have launched a manhunt for a middle-aged woman who allegedly stabbed a 46-year-old woman to death in broad daylight.
The incident occurred on Friday at Nyamaiya village in South Mugirango Constituency, Kisii County.
Confirming the incident, area chief Richard Omboga said the deceased, Pacifica Bitengo, quarrelled with the suspect, Ann Nyachoka, over a man who works as a driver at Trans Mara Sugar company.
"Bitengo met her death after Ann stabbed her on the neck with a kitchen knife. Bitengo had accused Ann of having an affair with the driver," said Omboga.
The chief noted that the suspect fled after the incident.
According to Mr Omboga, members of the public chased after the suspect in vain.
Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi condemned the incident, adding that a team of police officers has been deployed to hunt down the suspect.
The commissioner appealed to members of the public to cooperate with police officers to ensure the suspect is brought to book.
Kigochi warned residents against fighting over love adding that unnecessary fights won't be condoned.
The body of the deceased was taken to Tabaka Mission Hospital mortuary.
