Members of the public and advocates have been urged to embrace the court Annexed Mediation program as an alternative to litigation in dispute resolution.
Speaking at the Nakuru Law courts on Tuesday during the rollout of Court Annexed mediation program, Kakamega’s presiding high court judge William Musyoka said the process will help as an additional alternative to litigation in dispute resolution.
According to Justice Musyoka, the court Annexed Mediation if embraced will help address the backlog of cases in courts, enhance dispute resolution as well as maintain cordial relationship between business persons and their clients in society.
“It is a process that judiciary has introduced for the purpose of dispute resolution and therefore we are calling on litigants and advocates to embrace the same as it will help clear backlogs of cases in courts, enhance dispute resolution, maintain cordial relationship between business person and their clients in society,” said Justice Musyoka.
According to the high court judge, the program is targeting 400 mediators nationwide.
“We are targeting 400 mediators for this program nationwide but in Nakuru 25 will be enough for the start though maybe added depending on demand” he said.
Article 159 of the Constitution of Kenya urges courts to embrace alternative dispute resolution.
