Childbirth can be a tough moment in a woman’s life. The number of women who deliver through C-section has been on the rise. Most women never look forward to this form of delivery but some are left with no other option. Here are four crucial things you need to know about C-section.
1. Avoid overworking once the baby arrives
Don't go back to doing house chores once you are discharged from the hospital. Your body needs time to heal so it important to have enough rest. Get someone who can help you in carrying out simple chores such as cleaning the house and washing clothes. Focus on taking care of the baby and recovering from the surgery.
2. Expect to be emotional
There is no reason to panic when you realise you have become very emotional during delivery. It is normal for women to find themselves crying more than usual especially if you didn't plan on delivering your baby through a C-section. It is, however, important to talk to someone about your feelings. Also, don't shy away from asking the doctors or nurses any questions that you may have. This will help in calming you down.
3. You'll be given a chance to hold your baby
Many mothers often ask themselves whether they will get to hold their new bundle of joy after going through the surgery. Once the cord has been cut, you will be allowed to hold your baby. However, this also depends on the health of the baby as a baby who needs immediate medical attention is likely to be given the specialised treatment before the mother is allowed to hold him/her.
4. No rushing to exercise
Some mothers often rush to workout after delivery. Never make a mistake of trying to exercise at the gym days after delivery. Instead, you should give yourself some time to heal before hitting the gym. It also advisable to consult your doctor before you begin exercising.
