The senator said that there are many cases of unsolved murders where police are yet to arrest the perpetrators.

Wamatangi said that the DPP has the constitutional powers to order the police to review the murders and other cases of public interest.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament buildings on Thursday, the Jubilee senator said that Kenyans are still waiting for answers regarding several serious murder cases.

“The DPP should utilise his powers and order for fresh investigations into mysterious murder cases that are yet to be solved,” he said.

The senator said the mysterious murder of IEBC ICT manager Chris Msando, Carol Ngumbu, businessman Jacob Juma, university students Mercy Keino and Carren Chepchumba as among murder cases that are yet to be solved.

“Kenyans want to know who killed Msando, Jacob Juma, Mercy Keino and others,” he said.

The senator at the same time pleaded with the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) George Kinoti urging him to restore public confidence in police investigations.

The senator while condemning the mysterious murder of Sharon Otieno, a second-year student at Rongo University, urged the police to expedite the probe.

Otieno’s body was found on Wednesday morning in a forest in Homa Bay. Her family has accused Migori Governor Okoth Obado of behind the murder of the student who was seven months pregnant.

The ODM Governor has however refuted the claims.

Detectives are holding Obado's Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo in connection to the murder.
